# Update Plugin

**To update the 'Afterpay Gateway for WooCommerce' plugin, please follow the below steps.**

As updates for the **Afterpay Gateway for WooCommerce** plugin are released, notifications appear in WordPress Admin.

A number appears in WordPress Admin next to the Plugins link, it shows the number of plugin updates available.

> We strongly recommend that you backup website files and data before you do an update.

## Upgrade Instructions

1. Navigate to the **WordPress Admin Dashboard**.

2. Navigate to **Plugins** > **Installed Plugins**.

3. Locate the **Afterpay Gateway for WooCommerce** in the plugin list.

   > The version update notification is displayed, with links to the release details, and to update the plugin.

4. Click the **update now** link.

5. The **Afterpay Gateway for WooCommerce** plugin now starts to update.

6. Once complete, the notification bar turns green and the text changes to **Updated!**.
