List of commonly used terms and their definitions:

App Display NameThe App Name. The formal name of the integration. It should be representative of your brand to preserve continuity between your application and Cash App authorization screens.
It is shown to Cash App customers during the authorization flow and subsequently in their list of authorized integrations.
App IconThe App Icon. It should match graphic assets used for your existing application. Format the icon to be 512 x 512 pixels, in PNG format and be representative of your brand. This preserves continuity between your application and Cash App authorization screens.

Applicable Data Protection LawsAll applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations of any applicable jurisdiction governing the processing of Personal Information.
ASR - Authorization Success RateThe percentage of Cash App Pay (CAP) payment attempts that are successfully authorized.
BlockBlock Inc. and all of its subsidiaries and affiliates.
BrandA customer-facing business entity that is a group of related merchants within Cash App. For example, Good Pour Coffee is a brand, and the Good Pour Coffee Shop at 1 Main Street is a merchant, under the Good Pour Coffee brand.
Cash AppThe Cash App application-based financial platform. Customers can use this platform to send peer-to-peer payments, store funds, and order physical and virtual debit cards. Customers can also use this platform to buy and store bitcoin, and obtain financial rewards using products or services featured within the application.
Cash App AccountA customer’s Cash App account.
Cash App Pay (CAP)The program that enables merchants to obtain a customer’s authorization to use the customer’s Cash App account as a payment source for transactions with participating merchants.
Cash App Pay API (CAP API)The application program interface (API) that enables merchants to offer Cash App Pay as a payment method for customers.
CIT - Customer Initiated TransactionA transaction initiated by a customer to buy a product or service.
Client IDA short application identifier that Cash App uses to attribute API calls to your integration.
Client Secret or API KeyA long lived secret token. This should be stored and transferred securely. Never check it into source control.
CustomerA Cash App user who uses Cash App Pay to pay for a transaction with a merchant.
Customer RequestA customer’s decision to use Cash App Pay following a prompt from a merchant or payment service provider (PSP) to a customer. The prompt offers the customer the opportunity to complete a transaction using Cash App Pay (including payments or refunds).
Data Security BreachAny breach of confidentiality with respect to personal information or other restricted information. It includes any loss, misuse, or unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction or acquisition of personal information or other restricted information.
Developer PortalThe website that contains Cash App Pay API-related documentation, software, and materials made available by Block. All of which may be amended or revised by Block from time to time and available at Cash App Pay Developer Docs
DisputeAny claim by a customer related to a payment that states goods or services were not delivered or not delivered as expected. Or the transaction was not authorized, was duplicated or processed for an incorrect amount, or was otherwise not processed as expected by the customer.
Event Webhook URLThis is a fully qualified publicly accessible URL that can be reached over the internet without authentication. Cash API servers call this URL with data describing events applicable to customer and/or system actions.
GrantAn authorization from a customer for a merchant or PSP to take a payment from or issue a refund to a customer’s Cash App Account.
MerchantA person or entity that accepts Cash App Pay for the sale of goods or services to customers. Merchants may enter into agreements with payment service providers (PSPs) for the purpose of offering Cash App Pay to customers. Merchants must register, either directly or indirectly via their PSPs, with Block and use the Cash App Pay API to process Cash App Pay transactions for customers. A merchant may have one or more stores, websites, outlets, branches, or other commercial venues.
Merchant Use Policy (MUP)The Cash App Pay Merchant Use Policy
MIT - Merchant Initiated TransactionTransaction initiated by a merchant from an authorized payment source to recover a scheduled payment. For example, automatic billing for a subscription.
NPUs - New Paying UsersCustomers new to paying with Cash App Pay.
OTT - Over The TopTechnology (OTT services or platforms) that delivers streamed content via internet-connected devices. This is a known concern for anti-fraud detection, for example, account creation abuse.
PaymentA type of transaction that uses Cash App Pay to send funds from a customer to a merchant in exchange for goods or services.
Payment Service Provider (PSP)Service Provider (PSP) A person or entity that offers payment processing and settlement services to facilitate the purchase of, or payment of bills for, goods or services through clearance and settlement systems by agreements with other persons or entities, including Merchants. To offer Cash App Pay as a clearance and settlement system to Merchants, PSPs must enter into Cash App Pay-related service agreements with Block.
Program Rules (Rules)The Cash App Pay program rules which, along with other applicable documents and agreements, govern the use of the Cash App Pay API and the offering of Cash App Pay to customers. See the latest Program Rules
RefundA type of transaction that uses Cash App Pay to send funds from a merchant to a customer.
SVB(O) - Stored Value Balance (Only)A setting that prevents customers using a linked debit card as a backup funding source.
TransactionMoney movement using or otherwise related to Cash App Pay.
WCO - Web CheckoutA front-end user interface that allows customers to complete payments using Cash App. Web Checkout acts as a web application in the browser, doing authentication before continuing with authorization.
